Activities

Port Operations
All food aid is imported. There is only one entry point which is the port of Pointe-Noire. In coordination with the WFP Pointe-Noire office, the WFP forwarding agent handles port operations, vessel discharge, and forwarding.

Storage
The Government has allocated two warehouses with a total capacity of 800 metric tonnes for WFP use in Pointe-Noire. WFP has rented another two warehouses at Brazzaville and Nkayi with capacities of 3,000 and 700 metric tons respectively.
Commodites arrive from Port to Pointe-Noire, as well as dispatches to the two inland hubs of Brazzaville and Nkayi. The COMPAS in Brazzaville tracks commodity movements at EDPs and to FDPs. Brazzaville provides overall management and coordination oversight.

Surface Transport
Roads are difficult, with many in disrepair and with accidents commonplace during the rains. WFP prepositions food in areas that have bad roads during the dry season depending the availability of food.

Rail
Commodities are transported primarily by rail to the extended delivery points in Brazzaville and Nkayi, and onward by road to the FDPs. The railway has not enough capacity.

Aviation
Currently, there are no aviation activities in country.
