Congo, Republic Of the
WFP Aviation operates an aircraft on behalf of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to provide regional transport of passengers in Congo-Brazzaville (RoC), Congo-Kinshasa (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR) with the operational base being Brazzaville. More than 2,200 passengers and 107 metric tons of cargo have been transported from the beginning of the year to September 2009.
This Technical Support Agreement (TSA) is fully funded by UNHCR. WFP Aviation oversees the aircraft operations for UNHCR, yet the local aircraft for this operation is provided by a UN multidisciplinary team in the DRC (MONUC) and the field staffing structure is provided by the UNHCR offices in Brazzaville (RoC), Kinshasa (DRC) and Bangui (CAR).
