Trainings & Tools
WFP works to enhance the collective surge capacity, predictability, speed and effectiveness of international humanitarian response through improved logistics preparedness, response and inter-agency coordination. The organization focuses on areas where we can bring unique value and develop innovative ways of working that will benefit clients and partners - both within WFP and externally.
Areas of focus:
Competency development: Specialized trainings are developed and organized for WFP staff, inter-agency staff and/or external partners in the following categories: technical logistics skills, management skills and service mindset.
Emergency simulations: Through realistic emergency scenarios the trainings prepare participants for effective response in situations such as large scale emergencies and pandemic situations. WFP Logistics organizes these trainings for own personnel, inter-agency groups or in support of other organisations.
Provision of tools: A series of innovative tools is constantly updated and made available including tracking systems for commodity movements, warehouse stocks and truck fleets as well as online toolkits and manuals. In addition, the WFP Logistics Portals have been developed to offer single access point for Logistics resources and make necessary information available to WFP and its partners.
Process improvement and support: This area aims at equipping WFP with a reliable and agile supply chain mechanism to respond quickly and efficiently to changes in volume, variety and demand at any location, in order to meet the needs of WFP field offices and external actors and partners.
